Just like an acoustic piano
With an iconic look and a fantastic sound the DP-12 has it all. Made from only the finest components, it has the potential to add sophistication to any room. Friends and family will be impressed and this piano will prove to be a useful asset in social occasions. Its synthetic Ebony and Ivory finish is a great, natural surface for beneath your fingers.
To play pieces the way they were meant to sound, the DP-12 includes three pedals, soft, sostenuto, and sustain. The soft pedal, also known as Una Corda, provides a quieter, mellow sound, while the sustain pedal provides luxurious, thick harmonies. The sostenuto pedal proves especially useful for complex performances. Our decision to provide you with the same pedal configuration and number of keys as an acoustic piano means you'll be able to seamlessly switch between the two instruments without having to readjust.
The DP-12 has an extraordinary keyboard, with features both inside and outside its keys to improve your experience. Hammer action keys mean you have the mechanism to replicate the feel of pressing an acoustic piano key. However, with the practicality of a digital, you can also adjust the sensitivity to one of four levels to match your style of playing.
The acoustic qualities you love
Enjoy the sound quality of an acoustic with the ease and accessibility of a digital. Everyone loves the rich warmth of an acoustic piano. Featuring Gear4music’s new flagship grand piano voice, the DP-12 replicates this with an incredible degree of accuracy. With 128-note polyphony, your music can really ring out with the strength a piano is meant to have.
Be prepared for anything. There will be nothing stopping you from projecting your sound thanks to the inclusion of four speakers (2 x 10W, 2 x 5W), whilst the two headphone outputs enable you and a friend to silently practise duets. Hone your skills to perfection without disturbing anyone until you're note-perfect.
Fun digital features
Mix up your playing. As well as enjoying the classic tones of the grand piano on the DP-12, you have 32 different voices built-in to experiment with. This means that depending on your mood, or the occasion, you can switch from acoustic guitar to church organ, to electric bass. You get to enjoy these voices to the full with "Split" mode. Choose where you split the keys, and you can select different voices for each hand to play. Thanks to this function, you could play a melody on the jazz guitar and accompany it with an upright bass for a "truly jazzy number". The options are endless.
Another way you can create interesting sounds is through "Layer" mode. This function lets you play two of the piano's voices at once, layering them over each other to create your own individual sound. With the ability to change the volume of each layer, rest assured knowing you'll always remain in control of your sound. This is ideal if you just want some soft strings to play under your piano. Create an atmosphere with layering.
Create your own compositions. With all these voices, you can then use the 2-track recorder to keep your ideas to playback for family and friends. This advanced software means you can record two parts separately, in the same or different voices, then overdub one over the other.
Progress on the DP-12
The wide range of features on offer are excellent for giving budding musicians that extra boost. You'll find that the 55 built-in demo songs grant you the opportunity to turn off the left or right-hand part so you can play along one hand at a time. Before you know it, you'll be a whizz at both parts! A crucial learning tool that any beginner, or indeed any musician, will need is a metronome. Here, you have one built-in, with an adjustable tempo so you can stay in time with any piece.
Pick a piano your teacher will be pleased with. Thanks to the twin function, lessons couldn't be easier on this instrument. "Twin" mode divides the keyboard, so it acts as two identical, smaller pianos, this is ideal for when teachers need to demonstrate how a technique is done. A piano with 88 hammer action keys is another crucial feature in any teacher's book, so you can learn how it feels to press down on an acoustic key. With such advanced features, this digital is the ideal instrument for every stage of musicianship.
Connectivity for the modern musician
Gear4music understand how integral technology is when it comes to performing and making music. That's why the DP-12 offers an extensive range of connectivity to make your life easier. Want to play along, or listen to your favourite tracks? No problem. Simply connect your phone, tablet, or MP3 player via the AUX input for playback from these quality piano speakers. With this versatile piano, you can even connect to your computer too. The DP-12 allows you to transfer MIDI data via USB, so you'll be free to relay every last nuance of your performance, even down to fine details like note and touch velocity, through a MIDI 5 pin output. This makes this the ideal instrument for songwriters to transfer their ideas onto a DAW, to take their compositions further.
