Conn have been able to produce the EP655 Euphonium to the same high standard as their premium range of instruments, while keeping it at a cost-friendly price. The EP655 features a .570'' bore for most of the instrument and a .660'' bore in the fourth valve section. This dual bore design helps to produce notes in the low register with better intonation and articulation. The 11'' bell found on the ER655 will project the mellow tone and blend in nicely with any brass band.
Conn uses the highest quality materials to construct their instruments. The EP655 features a gold brass leadpipe which produces a darker sound compared to yellow brass. The yellow brass found in the bell is the most widely used and commonly played alloy in the world due to its ability to produce a beautiful and warm tone. The EP655 has nickel silver outer slides which provide a bright and powerful sound to the performer. Nickel silver is used for outer slides for a lot of instruments because it's firmer and has greater corrosion resistance compared to standard brass. Once the EP655 has been constructed, a layer of clear lacquer is applied to make sure the instrument stays looking newer for longer.
The EP655 includes everything you need to start practising straight away. The included case provides protection while also being lightweight and durable. The case features two comfortable backpack straps to ensure easy transport between musical events. If you'd prefer to carry the case, then the backpack straps can be removed and stored in the zipped compartments on the side of the case. The included Bach 6.5AL mouthpiece features a medium-deep cup and medium-wide, well-rounded rim for musicians needing a mellow tone at large volumes with great projection.
