Seasoned pernambuco

Tried and tested pernambuco. For this bow, J. Thibouville-Lamy has opted for the highest quality pernambuco, which has been seasoned for 20 years for the very best tone. Not only this, but each piece of wood is tested for resonance and elasticity using a Lucchi Meter. Only blanks that score a rating over 5300 will make the cut. Pieces of this quality are few and far between, making these bows extremely coveted.

Even after advancements in technology and the introduction of carbon bows, many professional string players feel that the warm, pure tone that a classic pernambuco bow gives you is impossible to match. It's the best type of wood for bows because of how dense it is, meaning it can be cut thinly and be carefully crafted into a well-balanced bow while still maintaining its strength, and therefore its durability.
