A simple yet highly effective feature, Dream Strips could be the difference you need to improve your workflow and get mixes finished faster and better than ever before. The original concept of VMR was to have a customised channel strip filled with the best aspects of every manufacturer's processors, EQs, compressors and more housed in one convenient plug-in. Unfortunately, this mission became slightly lost with people simply using VMR as a rack that holds plug-ins that need to be dragged and dropped to populate their customised channel strip. Now, with the introduction of Dream Strips, that mission is back on track.
Dream Strips allow you to save up to eight customised channel strips that can be used to instantly start mixing tracks with your favourite combination of modules within Slate VMR 2.0. The plug-in will load with a default Dream Strip that you can customise or move one of your other seven Dream Strips to be your default so this will load straight away whenever you load up the plug-in, here you should pick your most versatile chain.
There are a host of other features and workflow implementations that make Slate VMR 2.0 the go-to for many of the worlds biggest names in mixing, such as the ability to rename and customise your Dream Strips for quick and easy recall for any sound source, the ability to A/B a full chain of modules to quickly decide which flavour of modules works for your mix and of course the undo and redo feature.
An immaculate recreation of a classic British console channel compressor with a host of added features and improvements to get the best sound possible. A newly introduced variable attack and release dial with a significantly increased range add to the flexibility of the compressor module, making it the ideal 'go-to' compressor for many different sound sources, whether that's keys, vocals or guitar. Secondly, a virtual input transformer has been implemented to add analog warmth and professional polish to your sound. Lastly, a unique opto circuit path has been introduced to smoothen out any potential harsh peaks under heavy compression.
The ubiquitous EQ module from one of the most famous British recording consoles ever made. A staple within the industry for a reason, the FG-S delivers a rich and balanced tone that always stays musical, no matter how much you choose to boost or cut your EQ sections by. With the included Q-factor dial, you can go in and surgically boost or cut frequencies from your mix to create a smooth balanced tone or broaden your Q-factor for wide strokes that add a general vibe and character to your frequency range. A complete workhorse EQ that will work on just about any sound source you throw at it, whether that's a full buss of instruments including drums, keys, bass, vocals or individual instruments, the FG-S is versatile enough to do it all.
The classic discrete British-style EQ from the '70s. FG-N captures every single nuance, detail, artefact, distortion, cross talk, modulation and saturation from the original hardware unit and packs it into the most authentic and natural sounding emulation available. When using the FG-N, every action has a reaction and that's what creates the signature sound that boasts plenty of character and vibe, making it the ultimate choice for producers wanting to capture the sounds of vintage records.
Here, you can experience an exact replica of a classic American FET limiter that delivers an indistinguishable sound from the original hardware counterpart. The trademark timing characteristic and highly musical sound is all present to give you a workhorse compressor that will suit any instrument or mix group within your project. With an extremely quick attack setting, the FG-116 delivers a very aggressive tone that works perfectly for faster instruments and more aggressive musical genres, whether that's punk, metal or rock, the FG-116 will keep your levels in check whilst adding character and vibe.
Performing a simple yet essential operation, Trimmer will likely be the last part within your signal chain. A perfectly tuned gain dial that lets you tame any increase in volume that occurs through other modules within your channel strip chain, Trimmer ensures you don't fall victim to digital distortion or peaks that can spoil your mix. With RMS and Peak level monitoring, you can monitor the levels of your audio signal in immense detail and using the Phase Reverse switch, you can check for any phasing issues that may be caused by latency within your channel strip.
Appropriately named, The Monster delivers the signature sound of a classic FET limiter set to explode with maximum compression levels. A clever feature set makes The Monster much more than just a one-trick pony, with a mix knob you can blend in parallel your dry signal to reduce the sometimes overbearing impact that The Monster can deliver, as well as a high-pass filter to remove any unruly low-end and attack and release knobs to get the timing characteristics just right for the tempo of your music. Not forgetting the single button, the Punch dial does just that, takes your sound into overdrive and turns everything to 11 for added sustain and punch.
Simply put, Revival makes things sound better. It's a harmonic exciter with a sleek and simple interface that contains only two dials, Shimmer (highs) and Thickness (lows) to add the finishing touches to your channel strip that can add the subtle lift it needs to sit within your mix better than ever before.
