A faithful recreation of a legendary analog synth from the 70s. Behringer have incorporated all the same design aspects with a modernised twist, adding MIDI and USB support as well as expanded functionality.
At the heart of the Behringer Odyssey are two analog Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs). This dual set of oscillators provides you with a variety of waveforms including sawtooth, square, pulse, sine and square waves. This wide variety of waveforms allows you to create powerful and fat sounds, ideal for sound design and tone sculpting. The flexible oscillators act as the main starting point for any sound, allowing you to incorporate pulse-width modulation and more for added texture.
The Behringer Odyssey also stays true to the original design, featuring the same layout and colour scheme as the original. The Odyssey synthesizer features a 37-note keybed with semi-weighted keys, providing fluid playability.
The beating heart of the Odyssey is the flexible voltage control filter. The wide range of faders and switches makes it easier than ever to get in-depth with your sounds. Faders are included for Frequency, Resonance and the High Pass Filter’s Cutoff Frequency.
Building on the original design, Behringer have also included a new three-position switch. This new switch allows you to switch between three modes. The three modes represent the varying filters from the different versions of the synth. The modes include 2-pole MKI (4023); 4-pole MKII (4035); and 4-pole MKIII (4075). Also included is a Drive switch, allowing you to add a touch of grit and edge to your sound.
Two streamlined Envelope Generators come complete with faders that represent both AR and ADSR parameters. Other controls include switches for ADSR Gate/LFO Repeat, AR Gate/LFO Repeat or Keyboard Repeat/Auto Repeat. This allows you to craft a variety of sounds, using the controls to sculpt and texturize your sounds for new and interesting timbres.
Klark Teknik have long been renowned for their award-winning Reverb units, putting their stamp on the audio world with 40-plus years of experience. Countless world-class artists have used Klark Teknik processing, seeing the legendary DN780 reverb processor as the industry standard. Behringer have teamed up with Klark Teknik to incorporate their sought-after effects into this iconic synthesizer.
The custom-engineered effects are comprised of a reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifting and multi-effects. The studio-grade effects deliver 24-bit audio resolutions, allowing you to further edit and tweak your sounds.
Staying true to the original, the onboard 32-step sequencer allows you to input notes and rests on the fly. This allows you to create rhythms and patterns with ease, ideal for music production and live performances. You can also save your sequences, allowing you to recall up to 64 patterns spanning 8 banks.
You can play your sequences in a number of ways. Using keyboard mode, you can create and store the pattern. Using step mode, you can interact whilst you compose, ideal for capturing inspiration when it strikes. The arpeggiator and sequencer can be used separately or in conjunction with each other for some interesting sequential results. You can trigger arpeggiator patterns by playing a chord, with the arpeggiator then sequencing through your selected pattern.
The intuitive layout features 35 sliders, 25 switches and 3 pressure-sensitive buttons. The ergonomic design and easy-to-use controls put the fun back into making music. The Behringer Odyssey features everything you could possibly need to interact with external gear. The rear of the synth features a wide variety of analog connections, as well as the addition of MIDI and USB connections.
MIDI I/O, USB/MIDI DIN and CV connectivity make the Odyssey perfect for use with computers, synths and external modules. Other connections include: Portamento Footswitch; Low and High Outputs; External Audio In; CV In and Out; Gate In and Out, and Phones with a dedication Volume control.
