Versatile tones
Whether you desire sparkling cleans, vintage crunch or high gain leads, a whole range of tonal possibilities are just a couple of adjustments away thanks to the intuitive, on-board 3-band EQ. Each of the fixed frequency bands have been purposely chosen to ensure your approach to tonal sculpting feels instinctive. You can even adjust the "Shape" control to determine the overall fidelity of the signal, lower values are great for "effect" style parts whilst maxing out at 10 offers a full bodied sound.
Handpicked valves
To optimise its performance Hartwood auditioned a carefully selected range of valves for the Interceptor before finding the perfect pairing. At the heart of the preamp lies three 12AX7 valves, these are renowned for their ultra-low noise performance, rich harmonics, articulated lows and smooth top end.
Embraced by many leading amp makers, the power amp section boasts a pair of EL84s. Not only do they offer a long life, capable of withstanding the rigours of continued use, their sustained valve power guarantees maximum volume and tone, without compromise. Both sets of valves are visible through the unique Hartwood leaf emblem rear grille.
When paired with a cabinet, "High" mode (15W) allows you to easily project your sound in small to medium sized venues, without the need of a PA system, whilst "Low" mode (1W) is excellent when you desire reduced headroom, allowing you to achieve cranked tones at a moderate volume.
Unparalleled control
The perfect blend of heritage and technical innovation, the Hartwood Interceptor Valve Amp Head comes complete with its very own FX loop. A key asset to pedal users, this ensures you have total control over every aspect of your tone.
The FX loop means you don't have to plug your entire chain directly into the front of the head and are able to insert processing between the preamp and power amp. Thanks to its all-valve architecture, your tone will maintain maximum clarity and transparency, regardless of how complex your pedal chain may be. You'll even be able to take full advantage of the preamp to achieve unique saturation, and even distortion when pushed to extremes.
Real spring reverb
The Interceptor includes it's very own analog spring reverb. Unlike a digital reverb, the beauty of this is your performances will never sound the same twice, the head will respond accordingly to the part you play, adding a unique sense of depth and dimension to your sound. Not only will lead lines soar, this head can take your tone right back to the ‘50s and ‘60s, injecting pure vintage mojo into your sound. Combined with the characterful sound of valve amplification, coaxing a range of phenomenal tones out of this head couldn’t be easier - from vintage warmth to high-gain saturation, anything will feel possible.
Remote access
The inclusion of a reverb footswitch input at the rear of the head allows you to connect a footswitch (not included) to achieve remote access to the in-built reverb. This means you'll be free to alternate between a dry/wet sound midway through your performance, without having to reach for the amp head.
Road ready
The Hartwood Interceptor Valve Amp Head is built to last. Each corner has been reinforced with durable protection guards to minimise the risk of superficial damage to the stylish finish, whilst the rubber feet eliminate the possibility of unwanted vibrations and protect the surface on which the head is placed. The sturdy carry handle allows you to transport the Interceptor with ease.
