Wak-a-Tubes are brightly coloured plastic tubes, perfect for getting people of all ages playing music. Simply hit the tubes against a hard surface and the note will be played. Due to the tubes being different lengths the note differs. Hitting the full range of Wak-a-Tubes will produce a treble C diatonic major scale. This allows the user to create multiple different melodies. Alternatively, the tubes can be placed on a flat surface and played with beaters.
The tubes provide an inexpensive and fun way to begin understanding music. Players can create a simple tune in minutes. Hitting the tubes at different velocities is also a basic yet fun way to learn about dynamics in music. They also encourage team building, group participation and improved hand-eye coordination.
Made from plastic, Wak-a-Tubes were meant to be hit, meaning they are extremely durable. They are also super lightweight, making them accessible from a young age and great for transporting.
