The XONE:DB2 boasts a massive FX library with more than 50 FX presets to choose from. For convenience the effects are divided into 5 FX types; delays, reverbs, resonators, modulator and damage. Once a category is selected you can then choose from a range of different effects in that category to get creative. The XONE:DB2 provides you with enough effects to transform your sound with the ability to control the dry/wet amount.
The DB2's dual FX core is based on the Allen & Heath iLive pro-touring console but with more focus on the DJ environment. The FX algorithms have been further developed for BPM conscious parameters and tight spectral control. Two FX engines are available on the DB2 that can be cascaded or chained to run through the output of FX-X to the input of FX-Y which allows you to use a combination of two different effects together. Additionally any channel that is routed to FX-X can be processed by both engines but the single effect on the FX-Y engine can still be accessed by routing the channel to Y. The XONE:DB2 mixer allows you to use two different effects to completely transform or enhance your tracks. Choose between both delay and reverb for subtle FX wash or even modulators and distortion to completely change your sound. The DB2's parameters for each effect can be altered providing manual manipulation allowing you to develop a totally unique sound in your mixes. A convenient feature of the DB2 is it can be used in your home studio as well, where it can be used as a stereo multi-channel effects processor, digitally inserted into your DAW. The flexible input matrix makes this possible with the built-in 16 channel USB2.0 soundcard.
All the four channels on the DB2 mixer have a full input matrix that can select between analogue, USB and digital, enabling a wide variety of audio sources to be connected simultaneously. The 3 way toggle switch allows you to easily choose between the different inputs enabling you to include your turntables and CD players together in your setup.
The Trimodal EQ is another distinctive feature of the DB2 that allows the EQ to operate in three different modes; isolator mode, EQ mode and filter mode. In isolator mode the EQ provides full attenuation when fully anti-clockwise and a safe +6dB boost when fully clockwise. It also offers a steep 24dB/octave slope for tight frequency isolation. In EQ mode the EQ instead provides -26dB of attenuation bu has a gentler 12dB/octave slope better suited to certain music styles. Finally there is the filter mode where the EQ section transforms into a high and low pass filter system offering precise control over the frequency section and resonance.
The DB2 can double up as a MIDI controller for DJ software via the MIDI shift button. The MIDI shift mode enables easy remote control of DAWs without affecting the mixer. When the MIDI shift button is pushed the FX type buttons, FX select buttons and global encoders are disconnected from the mixer and only send MIDI data when operated. 17 independent MIDI controls then become available and can be mapped to software.
