High-quality build
Designed with the player in mind, LA select guitars prioritise high-quality craftsmanship and excellent ergonomics. Whether it be the contoured body, the punchy alnico pickups or the slim profile neck, these guitars provide player-friendly refinements at every opportunity.
The antique red LA select is built upon a basswood body. Used throughout the guitar industry due to its lightweight and dampening qualities, basswood is a rich tone wood which has the added benefit of being environmentally friendly. The antique red finish adorns a classic double cutaway body shape, with all the common playing areas having been worn away for a pre-loved look.
The aged maple neck has been tailored to a slim and comfortable 'C shape' and topped with a Jatoba fretboard. The aging process creates a worn-in feel to the guitar, with the attractive 'silvering' on the back of the neck having the added benefit of making it extremely smooth. This means you'll be happy right away with picking, plucking, and strumming - regardless of your experience, age, or influences.
Aged hardware
The LA's high-quality hardware makes tuning a breeze - with aged die-cast tuning machines providing a smooth and accurate tuning experience. The classic tremolo bridge system has also been aged to match the antique body and offers a precise tremolo action which returns to tune with ease.
Versatile pickups and controls
Each LA guitar comes equipped with three punchy 'single coil' pickups and a five-way selector switch - a setup well known for its use by players such as Nile Rodgers, John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix and many many more... The five-way switch allows you to select different combinations of the three pickups as follows:
- Bridge Pickup Only
- Middle and Bridge Pickups
- Middle Pickup Only
- Neck and Middle Pickups
- Neck Pickup Only
Explainer: pickups are the magnets which take the vibrations of a guitar string and transfer the signal to an amplifier - learn more in the attached guitar guide!
These five different options give access to a plethora of iconic tones. For example, the 4th position is often associated with a funky, super clean sound due to it's particularly smooth and twangy timbre. On the other hand, the 1st position is closely associated with soaring guitar solos and rock rhythm parts, due to the way it cuts through clearly in a full-band setting.
The three awesome pickups are also controlled via intuitive volume and tone dials, making it easier than ever to get your ideal sound - the tone knob allows you to quickly brighten/dampen your tone, and the volume knob gives you instant access to adjusting your level.
Why not make the most of the pickups and pair your new LA with a great guitar amplifier, as in the available 15W amplifier and accessory bundle!
