The Dean AXS Dreadnought features an all-mahogany build, which provides the AXS with an extremely rich and resonant sound. Mahogany produces a focused, punchy mid-range, thick well-defined tone, and sings sweet sparkling highs with plenty of characterised warmth. As a top wood, the mahogany offers a natural compression, creating strong fundamentals with a clear and direct focus. Used as back and sides panels, the tonewood provides a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles.
The AXS's neck is constructed from mahogany which provides a strong, durable neck, and great resonance. The reason why many guitar necks are built from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to different styles of play, from fingerpicking to strumming. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that delivers a bright, warm, sparkly tone that really shines through when using fingerpicking techniques. The rosewood fingerboard also provides a smooth and energetic playing experience and is sprinkled with pearl dot fingerboard markers for added elegance.
The Dean AXS features a dreadnought body shape, which provides an enormous voice, and maintains overall tonal balance. The dreadnought shape was originally designed for hard pick attack. However through years of superb craftsmanship, guitar luthiers have created a stunningly toned, well-balanced dreadnought voice that can handle many styles of play with ease. The big body is ideal for players with a longer reach, and those more comfortable with the dreadnought size.
