Key Features
Product Ref: 86036
The Microtubes 900 Amp Head is split into two sections, with a powerful distorted section on the left-hand side and a beautiful clean section on the right. The clean section features a range of powerful controls to adjust the foundation of your tone, with a passive/active switch allowing the amp head to accommodate the hotter signal output which can be found in active basses. Players can increase the signal running into the active 4-band EQ with the gain control to create an aggressive growl, while rolling it back will deliver a more cleaner tone. The 4-band EQ features controls for the bass, lower mids, higher mids, and treble frequencies, with switches for changing the frequency ranges of both midsections to deliver incredible tone tweaking capabilities.
The microtubes engine section of the Darkglass Amp Head is engaged via the microtubes switch, adding a natural compression to your tone. This is ideal for times when you need to enhance the amp’s organic harmonics, sending your sound from a mild overdrive all the way to high gain, bass rage saturation. Four controls offer incredible adjustments to the tone, with the drive knob adjusting the level of distortion and the tone control tweaking the high harmonic content for extra attack and definition. Use the level control to set the perfect amount of output, and the blend control to mix between the clean and distorted signals. The Microtubes Amp also features a B3K/VMT switch, offering players the choice between the aggressive, percussive sounds of the B3K circuit, and the warm, natural characteristics of the VMT circuit.
Along with its incredible tonal possibilities, the Microtubes 900 offers a range of ins/outs to seamlessly integrate with a variety of rigs. Its Speakon/jack combo output allows the amp head to connect with a range of speaker cabinets, with choice between a 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm load capacity. The balanced output allows the Microtubes’ signal to be send directly to balanced equipment such as PAs, mixers, or recording devices, while the addition of a ground lift switch helps to remove any unwanted hum and a post-pre switch lets you select which signal is sent out. A powerful feature of the Microtubes 900 is the preamp out and power amp in connectors, offering the choice to connect the Darkglass’ preamp to a different power amp, or connect its power amp with a different preamp.
Connecting the included intelligent footswitch or Darkglass’ super intelligent footswitch will expand the Microtubes' performance capabilities. Connecting a footswitch allows players to remotely activate the microtubes engine, seamlessly switching from clean to distorted tones with ease. Holding the footswitch down will active the mute function, perfect for moments when silence is needed. The Microtubes amp’s B3K/VMT push button will also remain operational while the footswitch is plugged in.
Do not open the amp. No user serviceable parts inside the amplifier.
Make sure the voltage selector switch on the left side panel is set properly (115V/230V) before plugging the amplifier on the AC outlet.
Never use the amp at a high moisture environment or near liquids.
The Microtubes 900 can deliver more than 115 db of power. Exposure to this level of sound can damage your hearing. Use proper hearing protection if you will be exposed.
The Microtubes 900 can deliver more than 900 Watts. Be sure that your speaker cabinet is able to handle that power. You can reduce the output of the amp by selecting the 2Ω mode on the rear panel (by the Speakon output jack).
Do not cover the vent holes. The Fan and vent holes are part of the cooling system of the amp. Covering the vent holes can produce overheating of the power amp damaging it.
Do not use an instrument cable as speaker cable. An Instrument cables are not design to deliver power signals going from the amplifier to the speaker.
