To celebrate their 50th anniversary of guitars, Yamaha has reimagened one of their very first gutars, the FG180. Introducing the FG180-50TH for a limited time, Yamaha designed it to combine the classicasl features of the original with the latest Yamaha technology. Keeping the original headstock design and body shape, and introducing an ARE-treated Solid Sitka Spruce Top that's sat upon a solid Mahogany back and sides, open gear tuners, and new scalloped FG-bracing, the acoustic guitar is a beautifully crafted instrument that brings together the old and the new.

Mahogany Back and Sides with a Solid Sitka Spruce Top

Featuring a solid Sitka Spruce top that's sat upon Mahogany back and side panels to deliver a stunningly tonal range. With the Mahogany producing a warm soft tone that is filled with depth, as well as keeping it balanced through the addition of good grind and bite, and the Sitka Spruce top providing the sound with brightness to make it more robust, the FG180-50TH is a beautifully sounding guitar that reintroduces and re-imagines the tone of the original.

Redesigned Scalloped X Bracing

Through feedback, extensive research, analysis and development, Yamaha has managed to create a new scalloped bracing pattern. the new pattern allows for more volume, more projection, increase in the low end and a bigger tone, the bracing also allows the resonance of the guitar to sit closer to the middle resulting in a bigger impact on both tone and play-ability.
