The PWM100 Paul Waggoner Signature needs to be capable of playing technically complex music with a particularly wide range of tones. Paul's collaboration with Ibanez features many unique qualities that makes this a guitar able to fit almost any musical situation with ease. Built in Japan, it is crafted with the highest quality that Ibanez can produce, and will match up to any custom guitar.
Paul chose the S series Ibanez for the basis of the PWM100, favouring its brightness and sustain combined with playing comfort and lightness. He increased its thickness to 44mm and chose to craft it from ash with a satin finish. This eliminates the restriction of vibrations that a gloss finish may give, allowing the ash to resonate extremely well. It is finished in a black stain, which lets the grain of the wood show through and gives the guitar a wonderfully tactile feel.
With a particularly flat 430mm radius fingerboard, easy access bolt-on neck joint, and jumbo frets with the prestige fret-edge treatment, the PWM100 guitar is clearly built for speed and an effortless playing experience. Produced from maple with bubinga strips, the neck is made with Paul's custom profile and is extremely reliable on the road in terms of tuning stability and reactions to changes in humidity and environment. The satin finished back gives you a slick feel which won't feel sticky under stage conditions, offering a great representation of Ibanez's playability and reliability.
The PWM100 features Mojotone pickups made in North Carolina and designed to give Paul the ability to achieve as wide a range of tones as possible. Paul demanded a bridge humbucker which could achieve a clear and aggressive rhythm sound which cuts through the mix with fine articulation and string balance. His neck pickup was designed to be almost the exact opposite, providing a dynamic and pick-responsive sound for solos and more cleaner styles of playing.
Also featuring a two-way pickup coil tap switch, this Signature Ibanez gives you a huge amount of tonal options. Flicking the switch allows you to switch the pickup settings from a standard humbucking mode to a single coil, making it an extremely versatile guitar excellent for live situations when an array of tones are required.
Ibanez’s legendary Lo-Pro Edge tremolo system delivers a smooth action for the most extreme of whammy bar tricks. Its low-profile design and recessed fine tuners offer the maximum level of playing comfort. The double locking design ensures the strings are locked in place for incredible tuning stability during long and heated performances, while the spring system ensures the guitar will return to its original pitch accurately, even after extreme use.
