The S-II Custom has a familiar double cutaway guitar design, yet brings Schecter's own adaptations to give it an individual look. The body is crafted from mahogany which provides a warm, mid-focussed and resonant tonality with plenty of sustain. The body is topped with flamed maple for bright overtones and a classy aesthetic.
The body is mounted to a mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard – a time tested design that gives great resonance and note articulation. These tonewoods are classic combinations that have proved their worth over decades of manufacture, giving you a familiar and well-balanced sound. The body has deeper contours than traditional instruments, making this guitar particularly comfortable to play over extended periods.
Schecter's own Pasadena pickups bring a well-balanced tonality. The neck has a PAF style sound with great versatility and the ability to provide both warm cleans alongside flute-like overdriven lead sounds.
The bridge unit is the Plus model which has a higher output level for an 'overwound' tonality. It is the ideal pickup for crunchy rock rhythms, going into heavily saturated tones with clarity and articulation.
The pickups are wired with a 3-way switch for multiple combinations, and feature a push/pull coil-split – accessed via the tone control. This gives you access to single-coil sounds and provides the S-II Custom with even more versatility. These options make the S-II the ideal workhorse instrument, capable of playing in many different genres.
The mahogany neck has a thoroughly modern specification, despite the guitar's vintage look. The fingerboard has a compound radius that gets flatter the higher up the fingerboard you travel. This provides the ideal balance between low-fret chordal comfort and high-fret soloing ease. The guitar has 22 extra jumbo frets for increased control over the strings when bending strings and applying vibrato. The neck is mounted to the body with a set-neck "Ultra Access" joint; it is so seamless you'll hardly notice your hand reaching the very top end of the fingerboard.
A fixed TonePros bridge gives the S-II Custom excellent resonance and sustain. It also provides tuning stability, further assisted by the quality Schecter locking tuners. With the set neck design, here you have an incredibly resonant and stable instrument that is perfect for long rehearsals and active performances.
