User Interface
One look and touch and you'll know that the Fantom-G is an instrument without equal. Only the highest-quality materials have been used to create this dream synth, with a stylish, futuristic design that will turn heads. Front and centre is the extra-large 8.5" wide TFT colour LCD for enhanced productivity. A first-class assortment of hands-on controls is provided as well, including eight sliders, four knobs, and ten buttons below the LCD.
Effects
Fantom-G series is loaded with a state-of-the-art effects engine, with multi-effects available for each Fantom-G sound/part. In 16-part multi-timbre mode, up to 22 effect routings can be used simultaneously. Create complex setups with 16 insert effects per patch, plus global reverbs and choruses. Mastering effects are provided for polishing songs created with the onboard sequencer.
Sampling
The Fantom-G offers sampling functionality that rivals dedicated samplers, offering not only detailed wave editing but also the ability to immediately play recorded samples from the pads or keyboard, or use them as material in audio tracks. Samples can be slaved to tempo with real-time time stretching and edited using powerful tools like Wave Edit and Chop. Users are free to load samples in .WAV and AIFF formats and back up data to USM memory.
Roland's Skip Back Sampling lets you instantly retrieve a performance and turn it into a sample. With Skip Back Sampling, your ideas never get lost because the sampler is constantly recording every note you play - be it on the keyboard or Dynamic Pad Bank - while keeping the musical bars intact.
Sequencer
Whether sequencing MIDI tracks, triggering samples from the Dynamic Pad Bank, or even recording audio tracks directly to RAM, the Fantom-G Series makes putting it all together a seamless process. The Fantom-G is the first Roland instrument to feature Roland's newly designed power sequencer. In conjunction with the large-size LCD, this pro-level composition tool provides 128 tracks (including 24 audio tracks) in a fully intergraded audio/MIDI graphical environment. A mouse can be also incorporated for computer-like speed and ease. Other convenient features include combo XLR and TRS connector, phantom power for condenser mics, Hi-Z input for guitar and bass, and line input.
Controllers
A variety of controllers including 8 sliders, 4 knobs, 2 assignable switches and Roland's unique D-Beam allow you to modify the sound of the Fantom-G in real time.
Dynamic Pads
The Fantom-G sports 16 ultra expressive pads which are both velocity and aftertouch sensitive for natural drum programming and accurate sample triggering. You can also use the pads as switches to a variety of parameters on and off.
Link
The Fantom-G Series is not only a great choice for studio musicians, but also for live performers. Using Roland's V-LINK technology, musicians can trigger and manipulate video clips when connected to an Edirol video editor like the PR-80. Imagine being able to instantly trigger clips from the Dynamic Pad Bank, or create transitions and effects using the pitch bender and knobs. It's a live performer's dream!
