The EarthQuaker Devices The Warden V2 packs a wealth of compression control into a traditional-size guitar pedal unit. Its internal 18v power transformer gives it increased sustain and gain levels. It is a responsive pedal that can be tweaked to find the exact compression effect you require.
Responsive Control Range
The Warden V2 features 6 dials for controlling every aspect of your optical compression sound. The optical circuit provides more character than other compression designs so you'll add a tonal signature to your sound with this pedal. Here's an overview of what each control adds to your sound:
- Tone: A slight colouration of your sound and can deliver both treble cut and boost.
- Level: Overall output volume and dependent on sustain/ratio settings.
- Sustain: The heart of The Warden. Controls the signal level - the higher the signal, the more the compression. Max sustain gives a heavy compression and long sustain.
- Ratio: Overall gain reduction.
- Attack: How quick the compressor responds to your transients.
- Release: How long the signal takes to raise back to the level determined by sustain and ratio.
With such a large degree of control, the Warden V2 offers extensive room for experimentation and can convey all different types of compression.
