View Full DescriptionThe EarthQuaker Fuzz Master General's Voice toggle switch suits your need for that extra dash of dirt and grit; it selects between germanium, silicon and no diode clipping. Germanium diodes offer more output level and a looser, more open fuzz while the silicon diodes compress the signal and supply a much tighter tone. When set to no diode clipping (center position) you can attain an almost completely clean upper octave that borders on ring modulation. Whilst the vintage Fuzz Master had a foot switch that selected from two different tone settings, The Fuzz Master General has a variable Tone control allowing you to dial in a wealth of sounds from a wide open treble heavy assault to a super-scooped, low end roar.
Controls
- Fuzz: Turning this control clockwise creates more dirty fuzz.
- Tone: Mellow, scooped tones clockwise. Brighter, more open tones anti-clockwise.
- Level: Adjusts the output volume level.
- Voice: Three way toggle switch which selects the clipping style:
- Mode 1: Germanium clipping - This produces a more open and looser fuzz.
- Mode 2: Silicon clipping - This produces a tighter, compressed fuzz.
- Mode 3: Open, pure transistor drive - This produces an almost clean octave-up effect and creates a sound almost verging on ring modulation.
CAUTION! Mode 3 is extremely loud; reduce the level when using this mode.For the best octave effect, use the neck pickup and play above the 12th fret. This is an analog octave so single notes work best however full chords produce an awesome, destructive roar!
