The AKG D12 is the ideal solution for capturing studio-grade kick-drum recordings. The D12 VR feature s a large-diaphragm design with a condenser capsule and a cardioid polar pattern. The microphone features a thin diaphragm, designed to enhance the low-end performance of your microphone, ideal for kick drum recordings. The resulting sound is powerful yet defined, with warm overtones. The warm sound is thanks to the original C414 transformer, providing exceptional audio performance at high signal levels.
Three active filter presets
One of the most unique features of the AKG D12 is the integrated active filter presets. The microphone provides three filter presets designed to shape the sound to match your kick drum’s character. This allows you to achieve the best possible recording of your kick drum with ease, basically acting as a soft-EQ to accentuate the tonal character of your kick drum. Once activated, the output level of the microphone is automatically reduced by 10dB. The bass chamber of the microphone is also optimised for enhanced low frequency performance.
Robust dynamic design
This compact yet powerful dynamic microphone is highly suitable for both studio and stage applications. The rugged exterior not only looks sleek but is highly durable, with an integrated grille helping to protect the internal components from damage. The microphone also features a tilt on the base of the mic, allow you to find the optimal position for your microphone.
